The sun and wind manipulation

As a tropical country, Indonesia is overflowing with sunshine and
high rainfall. In theory, if already in the house, we are protected from hot sun. But the truth is often not, the house can continue
the hot sun, even making it trapped the heat inside. Well, when we
entered the house, the skin will absorb the heat is trapped. That is
why we feel hot and humid.

To get a cold house, there are 2 things you can do. The first is
an effort to reduce solar radiation, so the house does not feel hot.
The second is how do we use the wind to reduce the heat that had
already entered into the house. The wind can help to release body heat
from the skin so we feel comfortable, the wind can also reduce the
temperature of the room about 3 ˚ C.



There are several aspects that can be processed so that heat does not "bake" the house:

Orientation

To avoid the heat, the building could be faced
with circumstances rah north-south,. This direction allows us to get a
bright sun, with no part entering the heat into the house.

Building design

Even in limited circumstances, can be designed buildings so as to be
able to enter the wind. For example with the use of the courtyard to
catch the wind or use a wall to deflect the wind so the wind will pass
the desired area.

The skin of the building (walls and roof)


Because in most outer, walls and roof facing the sun, and so may
absorb solar radiation. Therefore, the selection of materials of the
building roof and walls is very important. Materials are like beron,
zinc, asbestos, asphalt absorb more heat than the tile or fibers.
Bricks absorb more heat compared to a bamboo or wood. Color is also
very influential buildings. Bright colors will reflect light from the
sun so hot that in less absorption.

Openings in buildings

Openings should be designed in order to gain the sunlight and
wind, without including the heat. For example, using shading, select
the type of glass that can resist solar radiation, or using multiple
windows.

Environment around buildings

Nature around can be processed to cool the building, for example by planting trees, or create a pool of water.
